Where do I find the VIN, (Vehicle Identification Number) for my ATV?

For ATVs the VIN is located at the front of the unit on a plate mounted between the frame rails under the front fender.

For Scooters the VIN is located on the Federal DOT Plate mounted on the rear right hand side of the unit just below the rear body cover near the end of the seat.

The VIN is a 17 digit number that starts with “RFZ” or "RK1".

Where are the headlights for my Viper?

The CPSC regulations forbid the use of headlights on all ATV’s designed for youths less than 16 years of age. ETON manufactures our products in accordance with these regulations and does not supply headlights for the Viper series. Check with your dealer for aftermarket suppliers.

Sometimes my ATV will not start. The starter motor turns but the engine will not start.

This usually indicated that you have forgotten to turn the engine stop switch on the handlebar to the “ON” position.   This switch controls the power to the spark plug and in the off position the spark is directed to ground to prevent the engine from running. This is a safety feature that allows the operator to stop the engine in case of an emergency.

The batteries of the remote control stop switch on my Viper Jr. are always dead.

The remote control receiver of the Viper Jr. is powered by four “AA” batteries located under the seat. This circuit is activated by turning the engine stop switch to the “ON” position. If you do not turn the engine stop switch “OFF” when you are done riding the receiver is left powered on and will drain the batteries in about 13 hours. Always test the remote stop switch before riding the Viper Jr.

The steps to prepare your vehicle for prolong storage are:

i. Drain the fuel from the fuel tank.
ii. Drain the 2 cycle oil tank.
iii. Start the engine and allow the remaining fuel in the carburetor to be consumed.
iv. Remove the battery and store in a location where it will not be frozen. Store the battery in a heated garage on a piece of wood.
v. Never store the battery on a concrete floor as the battery can be damage by the moisture drawn through the concrete.

The steps to remove your vehicle from a prolonged storage are:

i. Charge your battery with a 12v automotive type charger for 12 hours before installing it in the vehicle.
ii. Check the battery after charging to insure that you have a full charge. The battery should be replaced every two years.
iii. Check the chain for proper tightness.
iv. Apply grease to the steering spindle using a grease gun on the grease fittings
v. Inspect the vehicle for any loose fasteners and tighten as needed.
vi. Change the transmission oil per the owner’s manual maintenance schedule.

I have had my ATV for only a short time and it seems to have lost its power.

If your unit is equipped with a (SA) type Exhaust system your spark arrestor screen may have become dirty or clogged. Remove the spark arrestor screen and clean it with an exhaust cleaning solution before reinstalling the screen. The spark arrestor screen should be clean every 60-100 hours of operation, and replaced at the beginning of each riding season.
